TRUGO – October 29th – Maribyrnong Park, Moonee Ponds
SHOW #4
Beefy & Rob kept to Inner-Melbourne and had a look at a truly unique Melbourne sport. Trugo was invented by railway workers in the 1920s and teams from across the city compete in the Victorian Trugo Association. Today we saw Ascot Vale take on the visiting Brunswick team.
Matches are competed between two teams of eight players. Teams hit the rings in pairs and hit 3 sets of 4 rings each down the 20m court, through a 2 metre wide goal. They then do the same again from the other end of the court, making a maximum total of 192 goals possible. The team that score the most goals wins the match. The Victorian Trugo Association also hosts singles, doubles and fours competitions.
