Beefy and Rob asked Melbourne Drift Trikes if they could come along and learn about Drift Trikes. It very quickly became the biggest event in Australia with sliders from all over Australia turning up to race, slide and skid down the hill. This spectacular extreme sport has to be seen to be believed!
The Melbourne Cup is one of the biggest Horse Races in the world. Over 100,000 attend the festivities at Flemington Racecourse. It is one of the most anticipated events on the Australian sports calendar. It is known as the “Race that stops a Nation” and it is the pinnacle of the social gatherings including all the fashions and exuberance of race-going.
Beefy & Rob kept to Inner-Melbourne and had a look at a truly unique Melbourne sport. Trugo was invented by railway workers in the 1920s and teams from across the city compete in the Victorian Trugo Association. Today we saw Ascot Vale take on the visiting Brunswick team.
Matches are competed between two teams of eight players. Teams hit the rings in pairs and hit 3 sets of 4 rings each down the 20m court, through a 2 metre wide goal. They then do the same again from the other end of the court, making a maximum total of 192 goals possible. The team that score the most goals wins the match. The Victorian Trugo Association also hosts singles, doubles and fours competitions.
